A New York-based meal delivery service that makes eating healthy easy by delivering clean, healthy meals and snacks to your door, Daily Harvest is the perfect solution for busy people who don’t have time to shop for and cook elaborate meals… but who don’t want to compromise on nutrition.
Offering a variety of single-serve options from smoothies, overnight oats and chia seed parfaits to soups, Harvest Bowls and even lattes, Daily Harvest prides itself on using organic, whole ingredients with no preservatives or added sweeteners. The company’s tagline “Superfoods. Super Fast.” says it all.
So how does it work? You choose from a variety of weekly or monthly plans, pick out the meals or smoothies you’d like, then look forward to your delivery. Your picks will arrive in a box packed with dry ice to ensure the quality is preserved.
Most of the meals come to you frozen in single-serving cups, and depending upon the item, you have one or two quick steps to complete prior to enjoying. If it’s a smoothie you’re after, you’ll simply fill the cup with a liquid base of your choice (Daily Harvest kindly provides recommendations based on the smoothie flavor—for sweeter, creamier smoothies, they recommend a milk or non-dairy milk, for greener picks, they suggest something lighter like coconut water), toss it in your blender, pour your smoothie back into your cup, pop on the lid and you’re ready to go. If you’re indulging in one of their delicious Harvest Bowls, you’ll simply pour the contents of your cup into a bowl, heat it up, toss it back in your cup, pop on the lid, and you’ve got a delicious grab-and-go lunch or dinner at your disposal.
We tried several of the smoothies (shout out to the carrot chia smoothie… we had high hopes and it most definitely did not disappoint!), as well as the Harvest Bowls (our favorites? The Beet + Sesame Poke Bowl, the Chickpea + Za’atar Bowl and the Kale + Lemongrass Bowl). Our takeaway? The smoothies are delicious and really convenient. If you want to get them creamy, we recommend adding half a frozen banana. And if you intend to make a meal out of them, you may want to add your favorite protein powder. Or, consider ordering one of their brand new protein smoothies (we tried those, too, and they’re INSANELY good!!!). The Harvest Bowls are packed with flavor. Seriously, they’re delicious. We did add some tofu and brown rice to the kale bowl since we are, well… hangry. And we added some noodles to the beet bowl just to give it a little more “meat,” but we found the bowls delightful, and the perfect meals to bring to work.
